We need balance between work and play. We need balance between giving and
receiving. We need balance in thought and feelings. We need balance in caring for our physical self and our spiritual self.
A balanced life has harmony between a professional life and a personal life. There may be times when we need to climb mountains at work. There may be times when we put extra energy into our relationships. But the overall picture needs to balance.
Just as a balanced nutritional diet takes into account the realm of our nutritional needs to stay healthy, a balanced life takes into account all our needs: our need for friends, work, love, family, play, private time, recovery time, and spiritual time -- time with God. If we get out of balance, our inner voice will tell us. We need to listen.
Today, I will examine my life to see if the scales have swung too far in any area or not far enough in some. I will work toward achieving balance.

Our own resources have a limit. The bank account gets used up. Physical strength becomes depleted. Sheer will wears out. Often, it is in those moments when what we believed was most powerful about us has been exhausted, that we finally open to a far Higher Power. When we turn to God, we discover access to resources that have no limit.

AA Thought of the Day / Yet when we admit complete defeat and when we become entirely ready to try A.A. principles, our obsession leaves us and we enter a new dimension - freedom under God as we understand Him. / As Bill Sees It, p. 283
Always act as if what you do will come back to you. Because in one way or another, it will. Freely give your love, kindness, compassion, value and understanding to life. All those good things will grow in depth and magnitude, and then they will return to you. You may think at times that no one is watching, and that no one cares one way or another what you do. Yet even when no one is watching, especially when no one is watching, you are making a difference in the world. And as time goes on, the gifts you give to life become magnified. They spread far beyond you. Eventually, they spread so far that they cannot help but come back to you. So be sure to start each influence on its journey in the best, most positive way. Live each moment as if the words you speak, the thoughts you think, and the actions you undertake will come back to you. For they will surely do so, bigger than you could ever imagine.
Ralph Marston
Imagine, if you will, a great reservoir, out of which lead innumerable small rivulets or channels. At its farther end each channel opens out into a small fountain. This fountain is not only being continually filled and replenished from the reservoir but is itself a radiating center whence it gives out in all directions that which it receives, so that all who come within its radius are refreshed and blessed. This is our relation with God. Each one of us is a radiating center. Each one, no matter how small or ignorant, is the little fountain at the far end of a channel, the other end of which leads out from all there is in God. This fountain represents the individuality, as separate from the great reservoir--God--and yet as one with Him, and without Him we are nothing.
Emily Cady
To fulfill, some message has to be delivered, some work has to be completed.
You are not here accidentally - you are here meaningfully. There is a purpose behind you. The whole intends to do something through you.
Osho
Love is a force more formidable than any other. It is invisible it cannot be seen or measured, yet it is powerful enough to transform you in a moment, and offer you more joy than any material possession could.
Barbara De Angelis
Keep fresh before me the moments of my High Resolve, that in good times or in tempests, I may not forget that to which my life is committed.
Howard Thurman
If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change.
