What do you really want? No, I'm not asking what thing you want, but what is it about that thing that you are seeking? Get to the root of your search. Do you want a new car? DO you want reliable transportation, or do you want the prestige that comes from driving a shiny new vehicle? Do you really want to do that kind of work, or do you just want the money and prestige you hope it will bring? Do you want a romantic relationship? Do you want a partnership based on equal ground, or do you want someone to take care of you? What is it that you're looking for?
Get as specific as you can. When we examine our goals and dreams, we may find that they're motivated by a deeper desire. I want to reach this point in my career, we say. Look deeper. What's at the root of that goal.
Be honest in your search for the root of your goals. Some of the roots of your goals might not be so healthy after all; maybe the goal will need to change. But you could save yourself from heartache by discovering it now.
Maybe the root is healthy, but you have placed too much value on following only path to reach it.
Be aware of all the opportunities around you. Don't sell life short. There may be more than one way to get what you really want.
God, help me become aware of what I'm really seeking in life.

There is a distance between believing the Truth and embodying that Truth. We may know that we are children of God with divine capacities, but until we act on that belief, it remains a foggy awareness. Using spiritual practices moves us from believing in God to becoming aware of the reality of God moving in and through us.

AA Thought of the Day / These legacies of suffering and of recovery are easily passed among alcoholics, one to the other. This is our gift from God, and its bestowal upon others like us is the one aim that today animates A.A.'s all around the globe. / 12 & 12, P. 151

By thinking about our thinking, we can see through the illusions and evolve to know the world and ourselves better. Remember, the universe is a growing, changing and evolving place. Our understanding of it is mirrored in everything we do, whether we know it or not. That means, we are growing and changing and, most importantly, evolving. We're evolving just like everything else on earth. People, families, societies, institutions, politics - everything evolves following the same undeniable and irreversible pattern. Including human consciousness. The difference, however, is that human consciousness - your consciousness - is self-directed. In other words, you have to evolve yourself.
Rich Rahn

Meditation is very much like training a puppy. You put the puppy down and say, "Stay." Does the puppy listen? It gets up and it runs away. You sit the puppy back down again. "Stay." And the puppy runs away over and over again. Sometimes the puppy jumps up, runs over, and pees in the corner or makes some other mess. Our minds are much the same as the puppy, only they create even bigger messes. In training the mind, or the puppy, we have to start over and over again.
Jack Kornfield

"I want my life to be one that God will be pleased with; I'm by no means a saint. I've still got nooks and crannies of things that need to be dealt with. But my eye is on the prize. She's not done with me yet."
Kem

We all owe to others much of the gentleness and wisdom that we have made our own; and we may well ask ourselves what will others owe to us.
Albert Schweitzer

Choosing to live your life by your own choice is the greatest freedom you will ever have.
Shad Helmstetter

If you want to be respected by others, the great thing is to respect yourself.
Fyodor Dostoevsky
