If you keep pushing the same button, you will get the same results. If you don't like the same results, maybe you could try pushing a different button. If you find yourself reacting to the same situations with the same responses over and over again, waiting for a change, stop! If you've been pushing the same button again and again, maybe the only result you're going to get is the one that's been taking place.
Look at your relationships. Is there a situation that has been moving steadily downhill despite your best efforts to push the right button? Do you find yourself responding to the same situations in the same way over and over, never satisfied with the results? Are you trying the same thing over and over, waiting for something outside of yourself to change instead of doing something differently yourself?
Maybe it's time to stop pushing the button, walk away, and do something else.
God, give me the clarity to see the situation in my life honestly and to act with wisdom and responsibility in the associations that I have.
~Melody Beattie~
Spirit is saying to you today, "What do you want? What do you want to create today?" Imagine that! And many of us are saying, "Well, I just want enough to get by." And that is what we receive. But if we want a great life, then we must be willing to do what's required: We have to ask the universe for it and stand in that still point of knowing and connection where, "with God, all things are possible."
Mary Manin Morrissey
AA Thought for the Day / The alcoholic at certain times has no effective mental defense against the first drink. Except in a few rare cases, neither he nor any other human being can provide such a defense. His defense must come from a Higher Power. / AA, p. 43
Unfortunately, a lot of what we've been taught by well-meaning parents, teachers and clergy, is not conducive to self-realization. We've been taught how to fit in, get by and do what we're told. That's fine for children. But there comes a time in everyone's life when you have to start thinking for yourself. The inner journey is the only authentic journey precisely because it's yours. All real growth happens on the inside. Each person carries within themselves meaning and purpose. It's only from inner explorations that you uncover meaning and purpose and can fulfill your potential.
Rich Rahn
To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded!
Ralph Waldo Emerson
"Sometimes the most important thing in a whole day is the rest we take between two deep breaths, or the turning inwards in prayer for five short minutes."
Etty Hillesum
Most people don't really need advice. They just need support and discipline in doing what they already know works.
Marianne Williamson
"A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free."
Nikos Kazantzakis
Nothing really matters except what you do now in this instant of time.
