Karen Casey, Daily Meditations for Practicing the Course:
“The ego keeps us on track.”
“We keep hearing bad things about the ego. That’s not easily understood when we’re new to the Course. So many other pathways to a better life encourage the development of a healthy ego. How can both be right?
It’s really not necessary to debate either viewpoint. Quiet but close observation of past conflicts and the way we struggled within those circumstances will reveal the negative role the ego played in seeking resolution.
It’s even possible that the ego might respond to an event almost as the Holy Spirit would. If the ego doesn’t feel threatened by a situation, it won’t be as invested in controlling the outcome. But we safely assume that, generally, the ego has a grudge to bear or sees a particular resolution as mandatory. And then we are stuck. Being stuck means we aren’t teachable and the growth we deserve doesn’t happen.
We have to ask ourselves. Is this what I really want? We can sit and stew about how life should be or we can be open to how it might be today. Our choice makes all the difference.”
“I can see conflicts differently today.”
Marianne Williamson, A Year of Daily Wisdom: “Were the majority of Americans – at school, at homes, and in business – to take one minute each morning to commune together in silence, contemplating our higher power, this country would transform.”
Hugh Prather, Morning Notes: “Until I am consistently honest with myself, I will never know consistent peace. Awareness means putting all my cards on the table; that is, calling forth all my impulses – negative and positive. Awareness is conscious acknowledgment of everything I believe about myself and others – even the parts that make my uneasy. Being verbally honest is sometimes kind and often unkind, but being honest with myself is always an act of love and fundamental to progress.”
Wayne Dyer: “Forgive yourself and you are sowing love in your energy field, as well as providing yourself with a spiritual solution to the ‘problem’ of self-contempt.”
Paul Ferrini: “Learn to hear your own guidance. Dialogue with the hurt child and the divine host within. Practice forgiveness and compassion for yourself. Be with your experience and learn from it.”
Unity’s Daily Word:
“God is my guide, my comfort, and my strength.”
“A wise woman once offered this comfort: Imagine your life as a staircase – each step is a part of your journey. Some steps are smooth and unobstructed. Some steps have cracks or loose stones. Now picture a strong and secure handrail alongside each step of the staircase; that handrail represents the strength and security we have in God.”
“Along our journey through life, God is with us. We meet each day with assurance because God is ever present as our guide, our comfort, and our strength in every situation.”
“We are supported by God’s assuring presence throughout our journey in life. God never fails us. No matter what the circumstance may be, God is within us – guiding, comforting, and strengthening us. God is surrounding us – uplifting and steadying us.”
A Course in Miracles: Lesson 178
Review Lessons 165 – 166
“Let not my mind deny the Thought of God.
“I am entrusted with the gifts of God.”
“God is but Love, and therefore so am I.”
Namaste – Ron
Lesson 178
Review Lessons 165 & 166
“Let not my mind deny the Thought of God.”
“I am entrusted with the gifts of God.”
I will attempt to be aware of the thoughts within my mind as I look upon my brother. I will see my brother as One with me, One with God. When I become aware that I am seeing my brother as separate from me, I will pause, and change my thoughts. I am entrusted with the gifts of God and I will share them with my brother – with the Oneness of God.
