Sometimes in life, no matter how deeply we intend to make the best decisions possible
for ourselves, things happen. Marriages end, jobs turn sour, friends wane. For reasons outside our control or understanding, the situation twists and turns into something other than what we bargained for.
Have you been waiting for a situation to revert to what it originally was - or what you hoped it would be when you got in? Are you telling yourself that there's something wrong with you, when the reality is, the situation has changed into something other than
what you thought it was? Things often don't go as smoothly as we planned. Sometimes, we need to endure and get through the rough spots. But I'm talking about those grindingly difficult moments when life suddenly twists on us.
There are the times we need to quit torturing ourselves. Let go of what you thought would happen. IF life has twisted on you, don't turn on yourself. Don't try to make things be the way they were. Come up to speed. Return to now. Let yourself accept the new situation at hand.
The road isn't always a straight course. Sometimes, even a path with heart
unexpectedly twists and turns.
God, help me relax and trust myself enough to deal with reality, not my fantasy of what I hoped it would be.
Melody Beattie
Our work is to make God real through the lens of our life for all the lives that we touch so that when others have passed our way, they have felt the touch of God, they have been encouraged, they have been supported, they have been blessed by the presence that we bring to whatever it is that we're doing. That is our REAL work.
Rev. Mary Manin Morrissey
AA Thought for the Day / "Day by day, we try to move a little toward God's perfection. So we need not be consumed by maudlin guilt for failure to achieve His likeness and image by Thursday next. Progress is our aim, and His perfection is the beacon, light-years away, that draws us on." / As Bill Sees It, p. 15
Your misery serves no one. Your despair accomplishes nothing. Your cynicism creates no value, for you or for anyone else. So why in the world would you ever even consider engaging in these things? On the other hand, your true and genuine joy infects others. Your happiness makes the entire world a better place. Your fulfillment inspires those around you.
Negativity is a deep, dark hole full of nothing. Who needs it? You don't need it. No one does. You do not benefit from your negativity, and neither does anyone else. Not only is it painful, it is useless. So whenever you sense it coming on, let it go. Let it dissolve away into oblivion. Don't bother fighting it. Just simply forget it. You have better things to do with your time and energy, things that will benefit you and the world in which you live.
Decide to be joyful and positive no matter what. Is that naive? Is that unrealistic? Is that insensitive? Absolutely not. In fact, it is empowering. It is helpful. It is compassionate, creative and positively generous.
It's always a great time to be the best you can be, no matter what. Don't wallow in the darkness. Add to the light. Be positive. Be happy. Be genuinely joyful. You can do it whenever you choose and when you do you'll truly make the world a better place.
Ralph Marston
"It is not God's function to create, or uncreate, the circumstances or conditions of your life. God created you, in the image and likeness of God. You have created the rest, through the power God has given you. God created the process of life and life itself as you know it. Yet God gave you free choice, to do with life as you will."
Neale Donald Walsch
We are one big family of people, trying to make our way through the unfolding puzzle of life. We are all connected to one another in the heart. Connecting with the ultimate source of love is possible through discovering the hidden power in your heart.
Sara Paddison
"The only thing that matters, at the end of a stay on earth, is how well did we love, what was the quality of our love?"
Richard Bach
