What if's can make us crazy. They put control over our life in someone else's hands. What if's are a sign that we have reverted to thinking that people have to react in a particular way for us to continue on our course. What if's are also a clue that we may be wondering whether we can trust ourselves and our Higher Power to do what's best for us. These are shreds ofcodependent ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving, and they signal fear. The reactions, feelings, likes or dislikes of others don't have to control our behaviors, feelings, and direction. We don't need to control how others react to our choices. We can trust ourselves, with help from a Higher Power, to handle any outcome -- even the most uncomfortable. And, my friend, we cantrust ourselves to handle it well.Today, I will not worry about other people's reactions, or events outside of my control. Instead, I will focus on my reactions. I will handle my life well today and trust that, tomorrow, I can do the same.Melody Beattie ©
Many of us grew up in dysfunctional families, because modern society is a dysfunctional place. But the spiritual journey, the path of recovery and personal growth, is a detoxification process in which we bring up and out the negative beliefs we have carried with us from the past and that now poison the present.Marianne Williamson
AA Thought of the Day / And he well knows that his own life has been made richer, as an extra dividend of giving to another without any demand for a return. / As Bill Sees It, p. 69
How many times do we stay at the edge of the abysses in our life, cowering with fear because we don't see the solution? Rather than take a deep breath and step into the unknown, we stay securely attached to our securityblanket, to our present reality, to our comfort zone. Rather than trust that the future will bring us something, anything, better than what we have now, we choose instead to hang on to what we have.
Marie T. Russell
When you fashion a life where the decisions you make and the actions you take are considered, deliberate, and in harmony with what's important to you, you are living an authentic life. It is not necessarily a life that others admire or think is right for you, but a life that you know in your heart is right for you. It may not be a life that has been your habit, but it is a life that makes you greet each day with enthusiasm and sleep peacefully at night.
Suzanne Zoglio
"There is surely nothing other than the single purpose of the present moment. A man's whole life is a succession of moment after moment. If one fully understands the present moment, there will be nothing else to do, and nothing else to pursue." Hagakure
Treat yourself as you would love your own small child. It is not being egotistical. It conforms to that metaphysical law that we all love our neighborsprecisely the way we love ourselves.
Lloyd J. Thomas
"Your outward search for God culminates in the greatest of all possible discoveries; the finding of Him at the center of your own being.
