Your Relationship with Mother Earth

As Chief Seattle so wisely said, "...we are all connected."

(This is not written to be yet another commentary on what humans have done, or are doing, to damage the Earth. If you are not already aware of this, there are many books and environmental groups that can bring you up to date.)

I am here, in love, to help to empower you and, hopefully, motivate you. I am not here to judge you, to make you feel guilty, or power-less. (That's the old way, haven't we all had enough of that?)

Do you know, dear one, that since you were born, the Earth has had, and continues to have, a relationship with you? She provides you with the air you breathe, the food that you eat, the water you drink and bathe in, and the shelter which keeps you warm and dry. Indeed, Mother Earth does her utmost to lovingly supply for your every need, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

This month, as we address the subject of love and relationships, it seems appropriate that one of the relationships you may wish to consider nurturing is the one you have with Mother Earth.

To nurture and build on this relationship with her, the only items you will require from your toolbox are love and compassion.

Start first by sending the Earth your love and thanks. If you can, take one minute to do this each morning upon waking, and each evening, before going to sleep. Next, open up your heart and look for simple ways in which you can help the Earth right now. Here's a partial list of suggestions. I know that you can think of many more!

Pick up a few pieces of litter today and put them in a wastebasket.

Walk, cycle, or ride the bus, even if it's just now and then.

Repair or reuse something instead of discarding it.

Give something away if it's still useable - your 'junk' is another's treasure!

Plant a tree.

Plant a garden!

Help someone else to plant or tend a garden.

If you are able to compost, choose to do so. Then see the magic when you spread this black gold on all of your garden beds!

Ask yourself if you really need to use pesticides any more, then ask the Earth.

Conserve your use of water and power.

Go for a walk, breathe deeply, open your eyes and your heart so that you can see and feel and be aware of the miracles that are all around you.

The Earth loves you. Did you know that? She does. How could she not? She provides for you! Please, give something back to her today to lighten her load, even if it is just a simple, "thank you". Remember that others are reading this too. If you and others agree to do these simple things for our Earth, eventually, a type of "critical mass" can be achieved. By choosing to help the Earth in simple ways, this helps to raise all of human consciousness. This, in turn, creates the power and the energy to allow the Earth to heal herself. It starts with the One - you. Who, in turn, is connected to the All…(still you!) Be peaceful toward the Earth. Be Love. Be compassion. Walk softly upon her, and give thanks to her each day.

And I thank you for this.

Namaste,
Jamerah
