Seeds for the Garden of your MInd

August 1

Karen Casey, Daily Meditations for Practicing the Course:

“Miracles undo the ego’s work.”

“We were likely to think we needed a strong ego. Self-help books extol the benefits of knowing yourself, asserting yourself, willfully taking charge of your life in even the tiniest of details. That advice is not necessarily bad; however, when our actions have injured someone, physically or emotionally, we need the “miracle” of taking action in a new way. We have to be willing to let the ego go in order for that to happen.

How do we let the ego go, particularly after we have spent years trying to develop a “healthy” one? The Course would suggest that there is no healthy ego. Its very nature is to be in control of people, situations, and experiences, and doing so exacts a great price from the peace that could be available to all. As students of the Course, let’s accept that this is true and seek the miracle of seeing any situation in another way.

The ego starts arguments so easily, so thoughtlessly. We want our own way. We forget we are One and there’s only one way. Let’s decided to remember.”

“I will remember we are One today.

Seeing anew won’t be so hard.”

Marianne Williamson, A Year of Daily Wisdom: “The experience of love is a choice we make, a mental decision to see love as the only real purpose and value in any situation.”

Hugh Prather, Morning Notes: “Whose dwelling is without dust? Whose mind is without litter? Actively and persistently searching out my mental mistakes does not make my mind more negative – because these are mistakes I was already making. Nonetheless, it is pointless to dwell on garbage. It merely needs to be identified and thrown out.”

Wayne Dyer: “Why would you live with any doubts about your ability to access spirit in times of trouble or the presence of problems? The answer lies in understanding the difference between what you believe and what you know.”

Paul Ferrini: All committed relationships have one thing in common: you wish the best for your partner. You are willing even to give your partner up if s/he could thereby find a greater happiness. Contrary to popular belief, marriage is not a tie that binds but one that releases.”

Unity’s Daily Word:

“God restores my soul.”

“Today I give myself a gift of time; the time to rest in oneness with God. I find a quiet place and become still. With each breath I take, I relax more and feel more in touch with God’s presence.”

“I think of quiet, peaceful, green pastures. I close my eyes and imagine I am walking there. A gentle breeze blows through the grasses and over me. The warmth from the radiant sun above is comforting.”

“I rest beside the still waters of a pond. I am quiet too. I feel rejuvenated. As I relax my body, my mind becomes more at ease. My soul is restored.”

“I now open my eyes, aware of the presence of God in my life at all times in all places. The precious, peaceful presence of God restores my soul.”

A Course in Miracles: Lesson 213

Review Lesson 193

“I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.”

“All things are lessons God would have me learn.”
