Karen Casey, Daily Meditations for Practicing the Course:
“God doesn’t create the details of my life.”
“Most people believe that God know us intimately. We’ve probably always liked the idea that God was in charge of every tiny detail of our lives. It meant that we weren’t alone and that our lives were unfolding as specified. Coming to believe that God is unaware of “this world” make us feel extremely vulnerable, abandoned. However, the rest of the “message” is that the Holy Spirit does know us. It guides us, comforts us, assures our peace, offers us a new vision of every circumstance. It was given to us a gift from God.
We have not been forgotten. We can count on guidance every bit as holy as though is were voiced by God. While it’s true that each of us is responsible for the details of our unfolding lives, we don’t have to solve any problem alone. In fact, if we dare to try, we’ll be relying on the ego and the situation can only become stickier. It’s good that we have stuck around this Course long enough to get more complete information. Our lives can be much calmer and more joyful now than any set of beliefs made them in the past.”
“I am not disturbed realizing God isn’t in charge of me today.
The Holy Spirit’s presence meets my every need.”
Marianne Williamson, A Year of Daily Wisdom: “We heal through noticing, and prayer. Awareness alone does not heal us.”
Hugh Prather, Morning Notes: “Today I will not rank the activities I engage in. Almost any activity is inherently interesting. I can stick with my predetermined attitude about large gatherings, uninvited house guests, answering snail mail, waiting in line at the DMV, and a hundred other circumstances I have decided I don’t like, or I can accept the situation I am in and look for ways to enjoy it. The only thing I have to lose is my self-righteousness.”
Wayne Dyer: “When you affirm that things might not work out, that your troubles continue to mount, that your problems are insoluble, that God has not been listening, or that you are powerless in the face of so many struggles, you are affirming doubt rather than faith.”
Paul Ferrini: “Your essence is unbroken, whole, dynamic and creative. It but awaits your trust.”
Unity’s Daily Word:
“I listen to my inner voice and
follow the infinite guidance of God.”
“I quiet my thoughts and take time to become aware of God’s loving presence. There is nothing too trivial to take to God when asking for guidance. There is nothing too overwhelming to place in God’s care. I rest in the assurance that the power of God is at work in that situation.”
“I listen to the inner voice of infinite wisdom that is revealed to me in a silent language of the soul. Divine wisdom illumines the way before me. God is my constant companion and guide no matter where I am and no matter what the circumstances may be. Attuned to God, I grow in wisdom and in love.”
“This inner voice is divine guidance that leads me in reaching out to others. The light of God within me may be a beacon of spiritual understanding to them as well.”
A Course in Miracles: Lesson 235
