Seeds for The Garden of Your Mind

September 18

Karen Casey, Daily Meditations for Practicing the Course:

“We can’t hear God’s voice when we’re judging someone.”

“We don’t always want to hear God’s voice. There are moments when we love the power we feel while judging others. The high is short-lived, however. Inevitably we experience guilt commensurate with our judgments.

Fortunately, God’s voice of love and forgiveness quietly waits for our willingness to hear it. We’ll not see our experiences or our companions in the same way when we listen to God’s message regarding them. Why would we ever choose to turn away?

The answer lies in the insanity of the ego. If we’re not extremely cautious in our focus, it will grab our attention and command our reactions. We can think only attack when the ego is in charge. One or the other voice will always be heard. Which do we want it to be?”

“Today I will remember that judging others jeopardizes my sense of peace.”

Marianne Williamson, A Year of Daily Wisdom: “The wise person doesn’t pretend to know. “I don’t know” can be an empowering statement. When we go into a situation not knowing, there is something inside of us that does. With our conscious mind, “we step back in order that a higher power within us can step forward and lead the way.”

Hugh Prather, Morning Notes: “How do I want to respond to what just happened? The opposite of inner happiness is the state of mind that is constantly getting entangled and pulled down by almost everything that occurs. Containing no quiet core, it is vulnerable to confusion, fear, and loneliness. Each day presents a new and pointless obstacle course. Is this how I want to live? If it isn’t, then let me remember these four magic words, ‘Don’t take the bait.”

Wayne Dyer: “…an attachment is not a fact, it is a fantasy in your head which you have come to believe is real. It is genuinely possible to live in bliss without those attachments.”

Paul Ferrini: “Do not withhold your gift from others. Do not make the mistake of thinking that you have no gift to give. Everyone has a gift.”

Unity’s Daily Word:

“The joy of God wells up from within and overflows into my life.”

“In quiet moments of reflection, I feel a stirring of God’s joy deep in my heart. This is a joy that is waiting to be given full expression in my life.”

“I appreciate the happiness I feel in even the simplest of times: when the fun-loving antics of a child cause me to laugh or the sun shines warmly on my face.”

“In quiet times and in times full with activity, the joy of God wells up from deep within me and overflows out to those around me. And like a ripple in a pond, joy spreads out touching person after person.”

“Joy also returns to me. I see it in the faces of others and hear it in their laughter. I welcome the joy of God and its power to transform my life. Joy brings out divine qualities in me as I give it full expression in my life.”

A Course in Miracles: Lesson 261

“God is my refuge and security.”
