Karen Casey, Daily Meditations for Practicing the Course:
“We are ensnared by an illusory world.”
“How do we know that what we see is not real? There is a simple test: ask, “Does it change, ever, in any way?” If it does, it’s not eternal; it’s not real. This is important because the ego gets invested in trying to change, to our liking, other people and numerous situations every day. Each resulting conflict moves us further from peace, from the Real World. The Holy Spirit wants to return us to God and home when we are ready. Readiness is nurtured through our expressions of love.
How can we refrain from reacting angrily to the circumstances around us, particularly when they are affecting us negatively? What the Course tells us is that nothing can affect us without our assent. What we have to do to withdraw the assent is seek the peace within, seek the comfort of the Holy Spirit’s presence. It’s waiting in the quiet place of our minds for our invitation to guide the response.”
“Forgiveness is the single most sensible response to every circumstance today.
I will experience the Real World within if I comply.”
Marianne Williamson, A Year of Daily Wisdom: “A miracle is an authentic switch from fear to love. When we speak from the ego, we will call up the ego in others. When we speak from the Holy Spirit, we will call up the Holy Spirit in others.”
Hugh Prather, Morning Notes: “Today I will avoid being self-willed. I will set no goals that are not shared with the divine. Many people look back and see their parents’ advice to ‘see it through’ was unnecessary and unhelpful. Doggedly persisting ‘to the bitter end’ is not necessarily courageous or wise. Being willful is close-minded. It should be obvious that it’s happier to walk freely rather than with bloodied feet.”
Wayne Dyer, “When you are feeling most distressed and things seem to be going from bad to worse, try stopping for an instant and asking yourself how you are going to grow from this experience.”
Paul Ferrini: “You bring into your life what you allow to come in. If you say ‘no’ to what you don’t want, you bring in what you do want. It is that simple.”
Unity’s Daily Word:
“God blesses both present leaders
And emerging leaders in all communities.”
“Community leaders offer their talents and values in service for the good of a whole and diverse community. They define themselves by the wisdom, abilities, and integrity they demonstrate.”
“As they give of themselves with honor and dedication, they become mentors whose behaviors are models for others to observe and build upon.”
“I pray that leaders seek God’s guidance for the insight needed to serve with the highest and best intentions. Then whatever they contribute to the community will be a dedication to benefiting all people they represent.”
“God bless both the knowledge and actions of present leaders and emerging new leaders. May they have a vision and fulfill it with integrity.”
A Course in Miracles: Lesson 289
“The past is over. It can touch me not.”
