Karen Casey, Daily Meditations for Practicing the Course:
“The world we choose to see costs us our peacefulness.”
“It seem improbable that we’d conjure up scenes of famine and destruction by choice. Yet that’s what we’re told as students of the Course. As we to ignore the devastation and violence we see everywhere, burying our heads in the sand? It may seem so when we first get involved with these teachings, but that’s missing the point. The Course merely says we see what the ego creates. If we want to see something else, we can. When we choose the perspective of the Holy Spirit, we’ll create scenes of love.
This sounds simplistic. However, we have little familiarity with relying on the Holy Spirit rather than the ego for our perspective. Most of us didn’t even know both options existed until recently. We can’t be expected to change instantly how we see the world around us. Still, to practice choosing peace-filled scenes can’t hurt us. It’s certainly worth the effort to have a different experience of one’s life.”
“My eyes will see what I desire today.”
Marianne Williamson, A Year of Daily Wisdom: “When we are in the midst of loss, betrayal, or crisis of any kind, there is power in the words, “Be still and know I am.” Truth can never be destroyed. There is no loss except in time, says A Course in Miracles, and time does not exist.”
Hugh Prather, Morning Notes: “I will never know peace as long as I condone attack thoughts. My ego mind can manufacture euphoria, excitement, hubris, passivity, lethargy, and a kind of short-lived satisfaction or ‘closure.’ But I can’t of myself create peace. Peace is of God and God is love. I will know I am serious about experiencing the peace of God when I consistently and instantly challenge any unloving thought, no matter how fleeting.”
Wayne Dyer, “The former alcoholic almost always blesses his drunkenness. The wealthy person praises his earlier poverty. The recovered heart attack patient values the experience of illness. The happy couple extols the pain of their separation.”
Paul Ferrini: When the spiritual adult and the wounded child want different things, manifestation is always mixed.”
Unity’s Daily Word:
“God guides me in supporting others in healing, caring ways.”
“When a friend or relative is in the need of healing, I may wonder what my most effective role is in his or her experience. I pray, and then I’m guided in the best ways of offering assistance, encouraging words, or a caring touch.”
“If the situation were reversed, I know the kind of reassurance I would want from another: I am here for you. I can be present with someone without dwelling on the negatives in his or her experience. God guides me to recognize needs and how I can be of help.”
“Whatever the condition, I want others to know I care about them and support their healing. I want them to feel free to express whatever they need to say or do to find comfort or relief. With the support of my understanding words and actions, I acknowledge the healing life of God within them and the healing that has already begun.”
