Prayer is the soul’s sincere desire, Uttered or unexpressed, the motion of a hidden fire, that trembles in the breast.-James Montgomery
To daily meditate on the Perfect Life, and to daily embody the Great Ideal, is a royal road to freedom….-The Science of Mind, pg 185
No one undertakes any worthwhile activity without preparing for it, whether it’s as simple as going to the store or as complicated as relocating to a new city. Preparation is the key not only to the success of the venture but also to the ease with which it is accomplished.
Mary and Joseph must have prepared extensively for the arduous trip from Nazareth to Bethlehem. Although the distance would have been short by today’s standards – ninety miles, more or less – difficulties and dangers were many: travel was by foot, most roads were trails over rough terrain, food and water were scarce, no lodging, and bandits were everywhere. Being prepared was the key to survival.
Our trip through life also demands that we prepare ourselves for inevitable challenges: job losses, relationship breakups, health crises, family disputes, and even minor traffic jams.
Fortunately, our Science of Mind teaching helps us deal with these challenges by encouraging a consistent committed spiritual practice. Daily meditation, prayer, and spiritual mind treatment anchor us in the reality of Spirit and lead us to a place of peace. It is from this place that we find the strength and serenity to face minor frustrations as well as major challenges. By consistently and immediately turning to prayer we recognize a source to deal with issues and a place of refuge that shields us from outside influences.
I rejoice in the journey of my life. Daily I spend time communing with my inner source and reinforcing my connection with Spirit.
