Karen Casey, Daily Meditations for Practicing the Course:
“The ego lives to attack.”
“As students of the Course, we realize how frequently the ego takes charge of our thinking and our actions. Our first response to a multitude of situations is to attack. Backed-up traffic, mean-spirited neighbors, an overly demanding boss – all easily trigger our ire. We observe many fellow travelers reacting in much same way. We wonder, can it ever be different?
Fortunately, we have all me people on our journey, perhaps through the Course or even on the bus, who appear to face all of life’s experiences with a smile. How do they do it? We may never figure them out, but they have served to teach us of the possibility that there is another way.
We are here, now, because we want the “other” way. We can learn to accept that the ego is not, nor ever was, our friend. It will injure our relationships, hinder our health, destroy or distort our dreams. We didn’t learn this lesson in school or at home. We can learn it now, however. We’ll smile more easily when we do.”
“I will give the ego a rest today. I will flow with my experiences.”
Hugh Prather, Morning Notes: “Only love can discern the bridge that stretches between two hearts. In love it is seen, and in love it is crossed. What another person does has no fixed meaning. I interpret behavior as I choose. What do I want it to mean? I perceive others through either my moods or my peace. Stillness sees oneness; moods see chaos. Don’t fight thoughts; change the source. Since I am responsible for which part of my mind I use, today I will keep returning to my quiet mind.”
Wayne Dyer, There’s a Spiritual Solution for Every Problem: “The more steadfastly we abstain from false identity the less attached we become to anything that is associated with false identity. As detachment increases, spirituality moves up the ladder that you can never completely climb off, any more than you step off the health ladder.”
Paul Ferrini, Reflection of the Christ Mind: “You are not the body, for the body is born and dies. Who you are – the essential Self – is not born, nor does It die. It exists without limitation, for It is ever expanding into the formlessness of God. There is no form that can contain it.”
Unity’s Daily Word:
“With a tender heart,
I forgive myself and others.”
“I may not understand why someone has done something unkind to me or said something unfair about me. Yet, I know the best response for my own well-being and that our relationship is to forgive this person.”
“It may be in my best interest to release an unsafe relationship and move on, or it may serve me to rebuild a relationship with mutual caring and support. Forgiveness allows me to let go of my focus on negative thoughts or behaviors. I move forward with positive energy that flows through me and into my relationships.”
“As I forgive, I feel the immediate result of greater peace of mind. I give myself permission to move forward with my own life. With a tender heart, a heart filled with God’s love, I forgive myself and others.”
A Course in Miracles:
Lesson 30
“God is in everything I see because God is in my mind.”
God is in my mind and I am in God’s mind. Our minds are One. When I look from within, I see only Love – I see only God. As I project those thoughts, I see only God in those I look upon. How does it feel to have the mind of God and to know that God is forever present in your mind? The simple truth and the simple fact is: God is and I am.
