Karen Casey, Daily Meditations for Practicing the Course:
“A special relationship will not satisfy us.”
“The greeting card industry hails the value of ‘specialness.’ When we were youngsters we longed to be told we were special. It meant we stood out from the crowd. We wanted that distinction. Now we are seeing how standing out engenders separation and comparisons. As a result, we fear not being equal.
A special relationship, then, is one where we note differences, where we vie for control. We see friend or partner as a separate mind and a separate body we should mold to ensure that our own wishes are fulfilled. Any deviation from our expectations is reason for conflict. Life, therefore, becomes perpetual conflict in the realm of specialness.
The holy relationship beckons us as we grow in the Course. Our vision will change. We will not seek control. We’ll acknowledge our oneness; we’ll value our sameness with others. We’ll gradually know love, and nothing will look the same.
“Seeing a friend or a partner through holy eyes today change who we both are.”
Marianne Williamson, A Year of Daily Wisdom: “No partner can save us, deliver us, or give meaning to our lives. The source of our salvation, deliverance, and meaning is within us.”
Hugh Prather, Morning Notes: “I cannot betray myself by ‘loving too much.” What could I possibly lose by seeking the peace of another person – literally making another’s peace my single-minded goal? I can certainly lose by destroying another’s peace; in fact, loss will be the one reliable outcome. And I can lose by loving too little and thereby making myself small. But to ‘love too much’ is merely to be my self, to be my own heart, to be my true and deepest nature, which is all I have ever wanted to be. Real love isn’t ‘balanced’ and can’t be measured or quantified.”
Wayne Dyer: “One of the biggest benefits of no longer giving energy to the things you don’t believe in is the discovery that the universe is unlimited abundance.”
Paul Ferrini: “I have told you that – no matter how many times you have refused to enter the sanctuary – you have only to knock and the door will be opened to you.”
Unity’s Daily Word:
“Through God’s unconditional love in my heart,
I give and receive love openly.”
“It doesn’t take much to show someone we care. A candy heart or an act of kindness can bring a hint of sweetness to someone’s day. It’s a blessing to both give and receive when they are done in love.”
“All of us desire to love and be loved on a deeper level too – one that brings fulfillment and joy in our relationships. Reaching this depth takes patience and courage. In any relationship, the truest love is unconditional. This is the love that was modeled by Jesus – a love that God extends to every one of us every day.”
“Today we make a commitment to recognize God’s love for us. We accept divine love into our hearts, knowing that this experience of love is something to savor. This is love that won’t dissolve away like a sugary treat; this is love that will last forever.”
A Course in Miracles: Lesson 45
“God is the Mind with which I think.”
Being One with God, our Mind is also One. My mind is the Mind of God. I believe in my dream that I am separate with a separate mind to think separate thoughts, but I can never change who I am in truth. My mind is the Mind of God and we are forever One. When I remember that, my thoughts are thoughts of God – of Love.
