Karen Casey, Daily Meditations for Practicing the Course:
“What we see isn’t the Real World.”
“Because we can touch everything we see, we’re baffled to hear it’s not real. Time and willingness to suspend our disbelief are necessary to understand this very basic Course principle. In fact, we have to accept that we live in a dream, one that quite often feels more like a nightmare. We left the Real World of God behind when we entered this realm.
Now that we’re here, so to speak, what’s our purpose? This aspect of our existence is simple: We’re here to express the love of God. We have no other purpose. It becomes easy when we make the decision, once and for all, to see only love or the cry for it. We’ll experience the Real World within our minds when we acknowledge and offer only love.
Peace is as close as our willingness to feel only love. That we’d choose to feel anything else is the ego’s work. That we even entered this often insane realm is also the ego’s work. Let’s ignore the ego! God is always available.
“If I see pain or anger or evidence of fear, I have succumbed to the will of the ego. Today can be different if I so desire.”
Marianne Williamson, A Year of Daily Wisdom: “At a certain point, we forgive because we decide to forgive. Healing occurs in the present, not the past. We are not held back by the love we didn’t receive in the past, but by the love we’re not extending in the present.”
Hugh Prather, Morning Notes: “If God holds me, why am I holding on? As I grow older, I am able to do increasingly less, yet my mind doesn’t seem to age. Yes, brain functions like memory and calculating skills have deteriorated some, but the ‘I’ that I am remains the same. It seems clear that my real safety lies in the recognition that whether I am physically paralyzed, compulsively hyperactive, or somewhere in between, I still remain as God created me. Therefore I can safely say, “Today I hold onto nothing, because God holds on to me.”
Wayne Dyer: “Know in your heart that everything in your wake and your personal history had to take place in order for you to be where you are today.”
Paul Ferrini: “God does not exist apart from you. God is the essence of your being. God dwells within your heart and within the hearts of all beings.”
Unity’s Daily Word:
“I say yes to God!”
“Saying yes to change may be the last thing I want to agree to do today or any other day. However, as I am going through change, I often learn I am capable of doing and adjusting to much more than I once thought I could.”
“True, I will have opportunities to stretch and grow beyond what I think I can do to what I can actually do. However, it is when I move forward with God as my guide that I am learning what God is capable of doing through me, and that is unlimited.”
“A change may be about my daily routine, my lifestyle, my physical and emotional well-being. I say yes to God guiding me and working in and through me in wondrous ways.”
A Course in Miracles: Lesson 52
“Review Lesson 6 – 10”
“I am upset because I see something that is not there.”
“I see only the past.
“My mind is preoccupied with past thoughts.”
“I see nothing as it is now.”
“My thoughts do not mean anything.”
I feel upset because I think I see something but it is not here. What I do see is my past that never happened. Everything I think I see is but a replay of my past thoughts. My mind is so preoccupied with the past and that is where I am keeping myself. I see nothing as it is now – in this moment. I see everything based on a past thought. My thoughts truly do not mean anything.
