Tao Te Ching

Rehearsals for the Great Integrity

The Great Integrity is the sanctuary
of all human beings.

For those who are honest and caring,
It is a guide and a treasure.

For those who are dishonest and deceitful,
It is also a treasure because a good word
Can rationalize a selfish act,
And because a good act, now and then,
Can serve as a mask
For living extravagantly
From the misery of others.

Since the Great Integrity
Is so universally acknowledged,
Don’t cast away
Those who use it opportunistically.
Rather cast away the opportunities
To live selfishly so that the Great Integrity
Can more fully permeate all our lives.

We might begin with the inauguration
Ceremonies of our leaders.
Instead of showering them
With precious gifts,
Instead of the public swearing
Of meaningless oaths,
Why not hare a meditation
On the Great Integrity as a prelude
To its comprehensive embrace?

If you just breezed through this today - take another read, please. First of all, it is what the Secret is trying to tell us as well. Think for a time on the 'sanctuary of all human beings'. This place of places is within each of us, and yet but One. When we accept our Truth, we go here easily and effortlessly. It is our treasure room wherein we simply are in the Presence.

But if we do not accept our Truth, this place is still available to us. Even if we believe that our world is real and God is responsible for it, this place still exists for us.

And what an inauguration it would be if all the pomp and circumstance were set aside, the oath of office with its meaningless words forgotten, and instead the entire country - the entire world - was asked to be still and know Truth for but a moment of time? Can you stretch your imagination so far as to visualize such a happening? Think what is being tossed into the Universe with such a thought.
