Seeds for the Garden of Your Mind

April 10

Karen Casey, Daily Meditations for Practicing the Course:

“Our bodies are not who we are.”

“We live in a culture that extols the body. Television, magazines, and advertising of all kinds preach the importance of the body and the necessity for it to be curvaceously slim and seductively attractive. It’s not that easy to dismiss all of these messages.

The paradox is the less we focus on our bodies, the more they seem to satisfy us. How does this work? The main idea of the Course is that the only thing that’s real is Spirit. Our bodies are nothing more than the ego’s invention to get us around in this material world, which also isn’t real. And because our bodies are an extension of the ego, we’re hindered by all the fear-induced data that the ego manufactures to control the circumstances of its environment.

When we have a contusion on our leg or a rash over our mid-section, its hard to agree that our bodies aren’t real. We see an image in the mirror, and we respond to being pinched. Let’s try to suspend our disbelief on this matter. Acknowledging only Spirit will get easier. And better, it will reward us many times over.”

“My body is my learning module. It is not me.
My Spirit wears my real identity today.”

Marianne Williamson, A Year of Daily Wisdom: “We achieve so little, says A Course in Miracles, because we have undisciplined minds. Training our minds to think from a loving, faithful perspective is the greatest boost we can give to our immune systems, and of the greatest challenges we can pose to our minds.”

Hugh Prather, Morning Notes: “Pour time generously over all your tasks. I notice that when I place myself under a time constraint, when I set a deadline and rush to meet it, it’s virtually impossible to keep from outwardly blaming or mentally attacking other people. Yet time can be a lubricant as well as a point of friction. Today I will give myself, my mind, and all that I do more than enough time.”

Wayne Dyer, Manifest Your Destiny: “The more you consider yourself connected to the divine source, the more you will act in loving ways to all others.”

Paul Ferrini, Enlightenment for Everyone: “The first question you need to answer on the spiritual path is “Who’s in charge?” And the answer is “Not your ego, nor any one else’s.”

Unity’s Daily Word:

“Dear one,
you are being blessed by the power of united,
life-affirming prayer.”

“Whatever you are experiencing right now or may experience today, know that Silent Unity is supporting you in prayer. The power released in united, affirmative prayer is continually blessing you.”

“Your prayer partners in Silent Unity are affirming that you are making right choices as you go through this day and the days to come. You gain greater strength because you are filled with the understanding that cell by cell, you are being renewed.”

“In your alone moments with God, let every burden be lifted from your heart. With every challenge you consider facing, hold no thought of fear or apprehension; know that through God’s presence within you, you are always victorious.”

A Course in Miracles: Lesson 100

“My part is essential to God’s plan for salvation.”

Why is my part so essential in my salvation? Simply because only I can exercise it – only I can forgive myself for thoughts not of love – only I can change my thoughts – my mind. If God would do this for me, then I would not have the free will given to me. God has given me the free will – the will to change my thoughts about what I see. This is the same free will that has me thinking that I am this body!

Namaste - Ron
