Karen Casey, Daily Meditations for Practicing the Course:
“What we give, we get.”
“We have all experienced rejection or betrayal after offering love and support to a friend or co-worker. That’s because human behavior is often flawed. Our positive actions don’t always return to us like a boomerang. Why, then, does the Course say that we get what we give? The one we love may not offer love in return right now, but we will feel loved and accepted by others in our lives.
What we may get shouldn’t determine what we give today. Let’s remember that we are not really separate minds and separate bodies, thus what we give or withhold from someone today we are really doing to ourselves. There are even instances when we may think we deserve punishment, but punishing ourselves punishes everyone. This concept is elusive but helpful because it simplifies our choices when we are deciding what to say and do.
What we give, what we project, comes back to us, sometime, somewhere. We can determine the kind of life we are going to have.
“I have much more control over what comes to me
than I may have thought.
Today will give me many opportunities to see this.”
Marianne Williamson, A Year of Daily Wisdom: “The closer we grow to our inner light, the more we feel the natural urge to share that light with others. The meaning of the work, whatever its form, is that it be used to heal the world. Love is the most powerful fuel in any endeavor. The most important question to ask about any work is “How does this serve the world?”
Hugh Prather, Morning Notes: “I am finally flexible’ will be my affirmation for today. Our life makes contact with us at the point known as now. That is the place where it breaks out of time and into reality. Our real life span is composed of the number of nows we experience, and its quality is determined by how attentively we respond to the present. Except when we were children, most of us have not had a glimpse of our life in a long time. This is another way of saying that most of us need to learn how to relax, and nothing is learned without practice.”
Wayne Dyer, Real Magic: “Keys to A Miracle Mind-Set: (12) Ask nothing of anyone and practice unconditional acceptance. (13) Begin to develop authentic power for yourself. (14) Practice daily meditation.”
Paul Ferrini, The Silence of the Heart: “If you want to come into your angelhood, you must learn to be completely human, completely authentic, completely present and open to your experience. Angels are not seven foot creatures with wings. They are beings who have learned to honor themselves. Because they have walked through the door, they hold the door open for you. Don’t see angels outside of yourself. That is not where they will be found. They live in a dimension that you can touch only through your heart. To call on them is to call yourself at the deepest level.”
Unity’s Daily Word:
“I fill my cup from the deep source of God’s unconditional love within.”
“I order to be comfortable and fulfilled in my relationships with people, I first find comfort and security through my relationship with God.”
“In silent reflection, I fill my cup from the deep resource of God’s unconditional love within. Immersed in God’s love, I am free to be myself. I am safe and accepted.”
“God, my constant companion, knows me better than any person could and loves me exactly as I am.”
“Settling into the comforting presence of God’s unconditional love, I receive this message: “You are whole and holy, just as you are.” This is a sacred revelation that creates a strong foundation for all of my relationships. Comforted and reassured by God, I am free to enjoy my relationships with confidence.”
A Course in Miracles: Lesson 110
“I am as God created me.”
If you were asked which lesson is a favorite, I believe many would answer this one. If I can but hold this one thought within my mind this moment and each moment of my day, my day will be presented to me in the light of Love – the light of God. By affirming that I AM as God created me, I AM stating that I am not this body in this world – everything here is an illusion of my mind. The only real, true thought I hold in my mind is this: I AM as God created me.
