Tao te Ching

Comparing Coercive Power and the Empowerment of the Great Integrity

When people no longer fear
The power of governments,
A far greater empowerment appears –
The Great Integrity –
Which never needs to enforce itself.

Then we will never again
Be driven from our homes
Or compelled to labor
For the benefit of others
We will all work naturally
To fulfill ourselves,
And to meet our community needs.

In the Great Integrity,
We will all love ourselves and all others,
Not as compensations
For ego deprivations and defilements,
But as natural expressions
Of our humanity.

"We will all work naturally"

Yes, because people will not be in competition to.. "be" the "Jones" .
To have the most toys, but instead to do what they do best for the good of all. That was an aspect I liked about commune living. Not that I did - we simply had extended family or friends living together but it was a bit like that.

I grew up not chasing material goods, or keeping up with the Jone's as it seemed so pointless. It took a while, but eventually decided it was more important to be true to myself, and love myself and others as brothers and sisters. I also learned to help others, and not expect anything in return, for if you expected something then you helped on condition and would be eventually disappointed. It is a nice feeling to just be and live simply.
Thanks Katie for your thoughts

I never understood the desire to "have everything". I remember looking out.. at the other kids, trying to understand why they were the way they were. I thought for a long time it was a cultural thing. It was just me.
My siblings sort of slid into the positions of their own making. I questioned.. went roaming... watched, learned, wondered. Arranged and rearranged my beliefs, perceptions shifting... as questions were answered and life was experienced.

I enjoy sharing with you. Thank you.

I enjoy learning. Knowledge is one of the greatest gifts shared.. whether thought or skill or talent.

When people learn together or share knowledge they grow faster in knowing. WE are all teachers to each other, and you are my teacher, for you stimulate the mind.

Thanks
