Karen Casey, Daily Meditations for Practicing the Course:
“Joining with others is how healing occurs.”
“To take another’s pain away is not our assignment. That doesn’t mean we should turn our backs on those who suffer or judge them negatively for their struggles. The best response, the only loving response, is to follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit in regard to the dilemmas of others: be a loving presence in their lives. Be with them where they are, nowhere else.
Joining with others in this way acknowledges our Oneness . When we see and celebrate this togetherness, we reduce the strife in everyone’s life. The Course tells us that none of us go home until we all go home. Bonding with all others speeds the journey home. But what does “going home” mean? It means being at peace, total peace, in the Real World.
Grasping the difference between the Real World and the one the ego inhabits is the door to a hope-filled, serene life. A mere nod in the direction of this door swings it open. The view is fantastic. So is our memory of it.”
“As one heals, we all heal.
I will extend my hand to a sister or brother today.”
Marianne Williamson, A Year of Daily Wisdom: “The evils of the world that confront me are a reflection of my own internal state, and no one can protect me from my own mind.”
Hugh Prather, Morning Notes: “From my peaceful mind, I will speak gently to the fearful part of me. Monitor your willingness, and each time you feel strong enough, put aside the evidence of your guilt and the hopelessness of your condition. Quietly let fear pass from your mind. Be still and remember that God cannot lose sight of the beauty and strength placed in your heart before time began. You do not belong to your ego. You belong to God.”
Caroline Myss: “Using intuition as a spiritual practice is like reaching a halfway point between conventional religious traditions and the deeper experience of mysticism and spiritual awakening. Intuition can be a step toward a true spiritual practice, but it is not in itself a spiritual practice.”
Eckhart Tolle: “One of the most basic mind structures through which the ego comes into existence is identification. The word ‘identification’ is derived from the word idem, meaning ‘same’ and facere, which means ‘to make.’ So when I identify with something, I ‘make it the same.’ The same as what? The same as ‘I.’ I endow it with a sense of self, and so it becomes a part of my ‘identity.”
Unity’s Daily Word:
“In all circumstances,
I turn to Spirit for wisdom, guidance, and strength.”
“A child may be in our care through birth or adoption, through marriage or friendship. And we may be called upon to be parents, mentors, role models, or caregivers.”
“The role of parenting a child is a cherished one and an awesome responsibility. We are called to provide a space of love and support for the children in our lives to grow and flourish. We may need to be firm yet nurturing, disciplined yet flexible. We find a balance as we turn to Spirit for wisdom, guidance, and strength. The love we feel for children emanates from divine love within us.”
“In the beginning, we may have seen ourselves as the teachers, guides, and caregivers of our children. In time, however, we have come to find that we have also learned from them, been led by them, and received many other blessings in return.”
A Course in Miracles: Lesson 122
“Forgiveness offers everything I want.”
With forgiveness, with a change of thought from fear to love, I have all that there is – I have love, I have my truth. With forgiveness I realize my truth and feel no need – no desire – no wants – just peace and joy that are mine in truth.
