Seeds for the Garden of Your Mind

May 10

Karen Casey, Daily Meditations for Practicing the Course:

“This world is a product of our minds.”

“We have often heard, “You get what you expect,” “As you think, so you are,” “Attitude is everything.” Hearing this message one more time is reassuring.

But what if the world we see is scary and threatening harm? It’s not easy taking responsibility for these results. There is a way to change what we see, however, regardless of the dreadful details. We can seek the help of our minds. We know that the mind is both ego and Holy Spirit, not necessarily in equal portions. If our outlook is brooding and bleak, the ego is inflated. If our outlook is hopeful and loving, we sense the Holy Spirit’s presence in our lives. We also need to remember if we feel physically threatened the most loving thing we can do for ourselves is to protect ourselves by moving away from a dangerous situation.

We can move from one side of the mind to the other at will. This makes our world our choice.”

“I will do my part to heal the world today.”

Marianne Williamson, A Year of Daily Wisdom: “If we think of ourselves as beings of this world, then the laws of scarcity and death, which rule this world, will rule us. If we think of ourselves as children of God, whose real home lies in a realm of awareness beyond this world, then we will find we are “under no laws but God’s.”

Hugh Prather, Morning Notes: “I already know enough. Everyone knows enough to be a good friend, a tolerant and helpful partner, a loving mother or father, a considerate customer, a fair and honorable boss. It really doesn’t matter what I don’t know if I will apply all that I do know this instant. Just one spiritual concept, practiced consistently, is enough. The golden rule is an example of a safe substitute for any moral philosophy, religion, or metaphysical system on earth. But will I practice it today?”

Carolyn Myss: “We often hold our fears at bay while we’re directing our spirituality into the pursuit of intuitive abilities or other practices, but we most commonly use those practices, such as yoga or meditation, to manage stress and improve your health – which is not why they came into being – rather than to deepen our consciousness and connect to the divine.”

Eckhart Tolle: “Blessed are the poor in spirit,’ Jesus said, ‘for theirs will be the kingdom of heaven.’ What does ‘poor in spirit’ mean? No inner baggage, no identifications. Not with things, nor with any mental concepts that have a sense of self in them. And what is the ‘kingdom of heaven’? The simple but profound joy of Being that is there when you let go of identifications and so become ‘poor in spirit.”

Unity’s Daily Word:

“With a thankful heart,
I welcome the good that God has prepared for me.”

“Jesus illustrated the nature of an abundant, powerful consciousness by His own example and through His stories.”

“One such story was about a tree and its fruit. Jesus explained that in the same way a good tree bears good fruit, a good person, from the treasure of the heart, produces good. This understanding is a realization of spiritual abundance that brings true prosperity.”

“I begin prayer with a thankful heart that acknowledges the good within and around me. I affirm that spiritual substance is bearing fruit in ways that I recognize and in ways that I may not yet be able to see.”

“Grounded in the consciousness of abundance, I welcome the good that God has prepared for me. In alignment with the abundance of the universe, I am thankful for all of life and for all my experiences.”

A Course in Miracles: Lesson 130

“It is impossible to see two worlds.”

I cannot see two worlds, and I cannot be in two worlds. I AM in the Oneness of God and never shall I leave that Oneness. This world, or any world I imagine to see is all illusions from my thoughts of fear. I have only to change my thoughts to love, to envision that which I AM.
