Karen Casey, Daily Meditations for Practicing the Course:
“The Course is one pathway to God.”
“It’s not unusual to grow up believing that our religious convictions are the only worthy ones. Many churches intentionally indoctrinate parishioners in that way. That’s how they maintain control. How refreshing to be told in the Course that there are many roads to God. Whatever was our path before need never be denied nor denigrated. It carried us to where we are now. Where we’ll go next depends on our desire for additional enlightenment.
We each wish to know God. How exciting to realize we share this journey with so many like-minded people. The trip bonds us; none of us is making it alone, and all of us will arrive. Because we travel together, we are living examples, continuously, of good and poor God-connections. It’s not an accident that so many “models” surround us. We’ll benefit most from mimicking only those who demonstrate love.”
“I seek to know God today. Every encounter is my opportunity.”
Marianne Williamson, A Year of Daily Wisdom: “Actual change occurs because of a decision on our part: the decision to heal, the decision to change. It ultimately doesn’t matter so much why I become angry or defensive. What matters is that I decided I want to be healed, and I ask God to help me.”
Hugh Prather, Morning Notes: “The images my mind keeps returning to inform me of what I rely on. There are no purely random thoughts and I should remain aware of the drift of my thinking. To resent, to long for, or to regret, is to place my trust in the wrong reality. I adopt a set of laws that are wholly unlike divine law. In this way I live in a purgatory of my own making. Although this choice doesn’t control the experience other people have, I can’t help but offer them a more difficult life.”
Caroline Myss: “We are rarely open…to seeing the presence of God within ourselves and we fear intimacy with the divine unless it is on our terms. When we need help, we want that help to come exactly as we need it, exactly when we need it, causing as little discomfort as possible.”
Eckhart Tolle: “Being right is identification with a mental position – a perspective, an opinion, a judgment, a story. For you to be right, of course, you need someone else to be wrong, and so the ego love to make wrong in order to be right.”
Unity’s Daily Word:
“I give thanks for the blessing of the children in my life
and in my heart.”
“I give thanks for God’s blessings of children and grandchildren of my own and all the children of the world. I find joy in observing children as they find delight in even the simplest aspects of life – the excitement of finding a bug in the garden, the fun of rolling in the grass, the joy of running in the rain. I am grateful for the love children and I have shared and for the wonderful adults they becoming or have become.”
“I may not have children or grandchildren in my home, but I thank God for the chance to mentor children who might not otherwise have a positive role model in their lives. I revel in their excitement when they have learned a new skill or mastered a difficult subject. “Thank You, God, for each and every opportunity to love and work with children.”
A Course in Miracles: Lesson 169
“By grace I live. By grace I am released.”
