Karen Casey, Daily Meditations for Practicing the Course:
“Nothing has to change.”
“So many times a day we lament a particular situation, certain that our lives could be vastly improved if only it changed. And when that doesn’t seem possible, we focus on the people involved, in hopes that they will change. Can it be true that nothing has to change in order for our experience to be different? Indeed, that’s the case. But how?
When the particulars of a situation stay the same, it’s natural for us to assume that our reaction and the outcome will be the same too. That’s what past experience has taught us. But we are learning something different now, and it’s vastly important. It can change every experience we’ll ever have; consequently, our lives will unfold in a way that’s unimaginable to us now.
We are learning that we can see any experience in a wholly unexpected way simply by seeking another perspective. Not a single aspect has to change for us to see it differently. That’s miraculous! Our lives will never be the same.”
“I can handle whatever is happening today. How I see it is in my control.”
Marianne Williamson, A Year of Daily Wisdom: “If you are judging a brother, you’re wrong even if you’re right.”
Hugh Prather, Morning Notes: “When the focus of my thoughts shifts from separation to connection, my entire world shifts with it. The thoughts that I take to heart become the eyes with which I see. Even if unconsciously, they determine what I choose to overlook as insignificant. Yet simply because something goes unheeded doesn’t mean that I remain unaffected by it. This is why being aware of my thoughts is crucial to sustaining peace.”
Carolyn Myss, Entering the Castle: “Reverence and devotion open the soul to intimacy with God and go far deeper than exploring personal matters of healing. You cannot stop and start a true soul practice. Once you consciously enter your Castle, you set in motion a journey that has no end point. Mystical experiences begin when you finally leave personal agendas with God behind.”
Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth: “…an obstacle to overcome – This is where impatience, frustration, and stress arise, and in our culture, it is many people’s everyday reality, their normal state. Life, which is now, is seen as ‘problem,’ and you come to inhabit a world of problems that all need to be solved before you can be happy, fulfilled, or really start living – or so you think. The problem is this: For every problem that is solved, another pops up. As long as the present moment is seen as an obstacle, there can be no end to problems.”
Unity’s Daily Word: “God’s love is blessing my loved ones in every needed way.”
“I welcome every opportunity to deepen my love for family and friends. And one way I can do this is to pray for them.”
“When someone I know is going through a difficult time, I offer encouraging words or a hug. Whether the person I am reaching out to in love is close at hand or far away, I can embrace them in prayer. As I enfold those I pray for in thoughts of the love of God that unites us, I connect with them on a deep spiritual level.”
“Asking my friends in Silent Unity for prayer support helps me expand my embrace to reach out to people around the world and hold faith-filled thoughts for their well being.”
“God’s all-providing love is within each one I pray for and is blessing them in every needed way.”
A Course in Miracles: Lesson 270 “I will not use the body’s eyes today.”
