Creating Positive Relationships

Lesson 2
It is only my thoughts and attitudes that determine whether I am happy or upset.

The world's laws have led us to believe that it is people and conditions outside of ourselves that determine our state of mind and whether or not we will be happy or upset, or have a good or bad day. Most of us have experienced letting another person or the weather decide whether we will be peaceful and happy, or whether we will be upset.

Many of us who have been on diets have even given our power away to the bathroom scale to decide for us whether we are happy or depressed.

Attitudinal healing is the healing of all of our negative thoughts and allows them to be transformed into love. Its premise states that it is not people or conditions that causes us to be upset, but it is only our own thoughts and attitudes that determine our state of mind.

We can be at peace today, regardless of whether the stock market goes down, we have just lost our best customer, our car doesn't start, the toilet doesn't work or our best friend has just rejected us.

Perhaps one of the biggest gifts that has been given humankind is the will to decide what thoughts we put into our minds and whether we will have thoughts of peace or conflict.

Today I chose to remember that it is I alone who controls the thoughts in my mind. It is I too, who can elect to change all thoughts that hurt.

Today I choose my freedom by consciously selecting to have only loving and peaceful thoughts in my mind.
