Karen Casey, Daily Meditations for Practicing the Course:
“Let’s not fear our impure thoughts.”
“It’s important to remember that every thought we harbor is self-generated and no thought is independently powerful without our acquiescence. While it’s true that many of our thoughts, every day, are wholesome and loving, a few are mean-spirited and can lead to regret. When they mirror the latter, we have momentarily succumbed to the ego’s control. That’s problematic, temporarily.
We don’t have to honor any impure thought. It’s equally true, and maybe disturbing, that we don’t have to honor the good ones either. At least it’s fortunate that we are selecting friends who share our current spiritual journey and desire for more love and peace in their lives.
It’s easier to make any new, positive behavior or way of thinking habitual when you surround yourself with role models who do likewise. But even when we sit among the naysayers, we don’t have to give our minds to the ego. Perhaps it’s our job, at that moment, to be the role model for everyone else.”
“My nasty thoughts are no stronger than I make them.
Today is open to my interpretation.”
Marianne Williamson, A Year of Daily Wisdom: “Our greatest gift to God is our devotion. From that point of power, doors open, careers blossom, we heal, and the world around us heals.”
Hugh Prather, Morning Notes: “To be comfortable with other people’s lack of understanding, I must first acknowledge my own. It has been well said that, ‘To understand all is to forgive all.’ However, this doesn’t meant that the most effective approach to forgiveness is to strive for perfect understanding. No matter how much I increase it, I still will not understand ‘all.’ This fact alone should motivate me to acknowledge an understanding greater than my own, one so complete that it has no need to forgive.”
Wayne Dyer, “Wherever, whenever you encounter despair, be it in yourself or in others, remind yourself on the spot to shift to that higher/faster energy of spirit. Radiate that energy directly to what you believe to be the source of the despair.”
Paul Ferrini: “If you are not doing what you want, then you must not want it enough. Maybe you are trying to live someone else’s dream, instead of your own. “
Unity’s Daily Word:
“God, my truest friend,
is my ever-present counselor and guide.”
“Friends are a blessing, adding fullness to my life. My friends and I may share a common history, an understanding, or a belief in one another. These special people also share my enjoyment of life and add richness to my experiences. I may have many acquaintances or a few dear ones to share my life with, but each one of us has a sacred companion in common – God, our truest friend.”
“God is indeed my friend. Never limited by time or distance, God is present within me. God is with me every minute of the day as my ever-present counselor, my guide. God is my encouragement and my unfailing support. I trust God with my secret hopes and my most extravagant dreams, and I release to God all fear and difficulty. God loves me always. The love of God is my strength, my peace, and my joy.”
