Self Sabotage

How often have you set an intention and then sabotaged it? Have you ever committed to eating healthy and then bought junk food along with the vitamins that you didn't take? My guess is we all have done something like this at one time or another. Ernest Holmes tells us we do this because when we think about something year after year we tend to perpetuate a condition. What begins in consciousness becomes subconsciousness.

Change is difficult. How long does it take for most of us to break our New Year's resolutions? It is easier to stay with our comfortable patterns. There is security in what we know. Perhaps family or friends are discouraging us from stepping out and trying a new behavior or pattern to our life. So there are many factors that pull us back to our old way of being.

We can take heart from the fact that we do have the power to change. When we are determined the universe will assist us. God's power is limitless. Ernest Holmes reminds us we don't need a greater power, we need a greater consciousness we must be willing to continue our spiritual work until we see the results. Most change is incremental, celebrate the small steps and know that with time, prayer, study, and meditation what you are seeking you will find.

Affirm: Today I know I am able to demonstrate what I can embody. I release old patterns and know that new ways of being are mine now.
