Perhaps the greatest gift that is given at Christmas is one that can be given year round. It is highly valued yet costs nothing and requires only your openness to be accepting and sharing. This gift of great spiritual value fills you with a spirit of optimism and with strength to meet any situation in life. This gift is joy!
Joy is a gift from God. It lives within you as part of your spiritual nature and you can experience it whenever you take time to observe the blessings of life everywhere around you. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day-traditionally days spent with family and friends surely are times of joy as you celebrate both the birth of Jesus and the blessings of loved ones, whether they are with you or you are remembering them in loving ways.
Joy is infectious. In the midst of holiday celebrations, in times of worship and fellowship let your joy spread outward to people around you. it comes from deep within your heart where God resides.
Ludwig van Beethoven used the lyrics of the poem Ode to Joy, by Frederich von Schiller for the choral section of his ninth symphony. The words describe joy as a kiss for all the world. Joy is divine! it is an expression of God's love flowing through you with exuberance.
