Seeds for the Garden of Your Mind

January 10

Karen Casey, Daily Meditations for Practicing The Course:

“Unforgiveness makes us sick.”

“For many of us it’s hard to understand that a dear friend suffering from a terminal illness has been made sick by her unforgiveness. She may not even seem angry or resentful, perhaps. Yet the Course tells us that hanging on to the past hurts and hinders our present health. Could her acknowledgment of this and willingness to forgive make her well?

Forgiveness might not erase the physical ailment, but her mental state would reflect a more loving attitude, which is where one’s actual “wellness” lies. The body embraces what the mind projects. Fully understanding this principle gives us the capacity to create miraculous lives.

When we have a headache or suffer from indigestion, we are quick to look outside for the cause. While the external environment may be harsh and demanding, it can’t make us sick. It doesn’t determine our attitude. Taking responsibility for who we are is the most healing action we can take.”

“Am I hanging on to an old hurt?
The condition of my body may give me a clue today.”

Hugh Prather, Morning Notes: “When I see your heart, I want what you want. “Love your neighbor as yourself” implies nothing more complicated than the fact that anything less than love is not love. The golden rule is not asking “What would I want?” The question is what does my child, my friend, my partner, my parent truly want? Love does not guess; it unfolds, embraces, and understands. If we do not love someone outside ourselves, then quite simply, we do not love ourselves. God is love, and within the love of God there is no discrimination.”

Wayne Dyer, There’s a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem: “Completely emptying the mind of our agenda leads to forgiveness, which is a vital component of this practice. Getting to a state of emptiness means ridding ourselves of all blame and angry thoughts about what has transpired in the past.”

Paul Ferrini, Reflections of The Christ Mind: “You think I died for your sins. That is a misunderstanding of my life and my teaching. I came to teach that no sin is unforgivable, that every being deserves love, including those who strike out against others in their fear and their pain.”

Unity’s Daily Word:

“Through the gentle guidance of Spirit,
I confidently follow new paths.”

“When I am in need of guidance on matters great and small, I turn to Spirit within as my teacher and my guide. In the silence of my soul, I awaken more fully to the gentle guidance of Spirit.”

“As I quiet all thoughts about anything in the outer, my mind is open to the flow of divine wisdom. I become aware of the still small voice of wisdom within me. This time of communion provides me in ways of health, happiness, and prosperity.”

“When I return to the circumstances of my day, I am conscious of Spirit’s guiding light. I travel my path in life confidently, for the gentle guidance of Spirit is leading me to new and fulfilling discoveries.”

A Course in Miracles: Lesson 10

“My thoughts do not mean anything.”
