Seeds for the Garden of Your Mind

June 1

Karen Casey, Daily Meditations for Practicing the Course:

“A miracle is a shift in perception.”

“We see the machinations in our lives as far more serious and disruptive than they really are. Fortunately, the Course is teaching us that a tiny attitude change can result in quite a different experience.

For instance, consider the frustration of getting a flat tire on the way to work. You have been late three times in the past two weeks, and you know your boss will be upset. Initially, you may be convinced the entire day is ruined. You may want to scream at the motorists who don’t stop to help or go back home and call in sick. What a perfect opportunity to practice shifting your perception. But how?

The first step is to prevail upon the Holy Spirit, who resides in your mind. Ask for a different vision and then quietly wait until one takes shape. Second, be grateful that the car wasn’t thrown out of control when the flat occurred. Third, use the time it takes to change the tire to evaluate priorities in your life.

Our feelings will be different when our approach to life is. Seeking miracles in this way guarantees them.”

“I will seek the help I need as often as I need it today.”

Marianne Williamson, A Year of Daily Wisdom: “The work toward enlightenment often entails a painful and not very pretty arousal of the worst of which we’re capable, made plain to both ourselves and others, in order that we might consciously choose to release our personal darkness.”

Hugh Prather, Morning Notes: “Spiritual emotions are limitless and ever present. Ego emotions are limited and bound to the past. The Sermon on the Mount removes all qualifications from the old virtues. A virtue is pure and sincere only if it has no exceptions. I certainly should consider whether at times it is appropriate to act happy, to behave affectionately, or to profess my faith. But within the heart, love, happiness, and faith require no restraint.”

Caroline Myss: “You never know what you will uncover when diving into the unknown - your subconscious and soul. The journey absolutely changes you. You need the guidance and counsel of mystics who have gone before you.”

Eckhart Tolle: “When you realize it’s not personal, there is no longer a compulsion to react as if it were.”

Unity’s Daily Word:

“Partnering with God,
I move step-by-step in being a healthier, happier me.”

“Whether I am desiring a change for the better in my health or in my life in general, or whether life itself is asking such a change of me – I may wonder how I will get from where I am to where I want to be.”

“I know this: I don’t have to do it all alone, and I certainly don’t have to do it all at once! That first step, however small, creates momentum. It is an action that says, ‘God, I am ready to accept Your place of good for me.”

“Taking the first step relieves any self-doubt and builds my confidence. The next one is a little easier, and before I know it, I have made tremendous progress on a whole new path of better living.”

“I make a commitment to take one step at a time. Partnering with God, I move step-by-step in being a healthier, happier me.”

A Course in Miracles: Lesson 152

“The power of decision is my own.”

Did you ever look at a decision – your choice – as having power? With a choice you make, your world changes before you. Because of the free will that we have, decisions are ours alone to make. We may pray for a decision to made for us, but what we receive is the knowledge of what to do at the moment – what decision we are to make. We often like to blame someone else – even God – for our decisions, but look at how foolish that is even to say – “our decisions.”

Namaste - Ron
