Seeds for the Garden of Your Mind

June 4

Karen Casey, Daily Meditations for Practicing the Course:

“God has given each of us a special gift.”

“How often we wake up doubting ourselves depends on how caught we are in the grasp of the ego. Some days going to work seems overwhelming. Handling difficult children or mending fences with a parent gives us fits of anxiety. Obviously we have forgotten the Holy Spirit. We never experience these pangs of uncertainty when we have sought Its help.

It only we could remember that we are exactly where our “services” are needed every single minute. And what are the services? Simply to listen to others with our hearts, and respond with love. No matter where we are or what occupation we have, our task is the same.

We complicate our experiences so much, always trying to figure out the right solution. There is only one solution for everything! We can give up the angst, the need to be right, the worry over outcomes. None of it matters. If we have forgiveness and love in our hearts, we are fulfilling our purpose.”

“My participation in today’s events
will reflect the love the Holy Spirit has given me.”

Marianne Williamson, A Year of Daily Wisdom: “The key to happiness is the decision to be happy.”

Hugh Prather, Morning Notes: “Happiness begins with increased awareness of others. Pet owners who ask the question, ‘What does this animal’s behavior say about me?’ are capable of insensitivity and sometimes cruelty toward their pet. For example, they may demand that a dog be absolutely obedient and loyal to them yet see no reason why they should have a lifelong commitment to the dog. Likewise, I am acutely aware of other people’s attitudes toward me, yet I am not consistently conscious of my attitudes toward them.”

Caroline Myss: “Exposure to truth changes your life, period – whether that truth is a revelation about personal honesty and integrity or a divine revelation that reorganizes your place in the universe. This is why most people run from truth rather than toward it.”

Eckhart Tolle: “Non-reaction is not weakness but strength. Another word for non-reaction is forgiveness. To forgive is to over look, or rather to look through. You look through the ego to the sanity that is in every human being as his or her essence.”

Unity’s Daily Word:

“With a Spirit-inspired attitude,
I am loving, peaceful, and joyous.”

“Nothing adverse from the past can hold me back from living in the fullness of God’s presence today. Unquestionably, it is at the times when I am attuned to Spirit and know the truth of who I am that I live my life to the fullest.”

“My thoughts help form my experiences. Every moment in time is an opportunity for me to be creative in the highest, most positive ways. So as I talk to people, work at my job or run errands, I do so with joy and a Spirit-inspired attitude.”

“My words and actions are creating an atmosphere of peace and love for me and for those I meet and interact with throughout the day. With a Spirit-inspired attitude, I am loving, peaceful, and joyous.”

A Course in Miracles: Lesson 155

“I will step back and let Him lead the way.”

This is one of those lessons I can easily repeat many times a day – many, many times. All too often I believe I know all that is to be known and so I lead myself, but soon find that I am doing nothing more than going in circles – easily identified as being led by ego. All I must do is but pause, and allow the way to be shown to me by the Holy Spirit within me. That really is all that I must do, and yet it certainly appears that some days, I just don’t “have the time” to do that. Time is here just for such a purpose!
